SEPI is in the process of a transition in governance, with a new structure that includes an elected president. We now have five candidates for three positions (explained below). These candidates were generated through the solicitation of nominations that was sent out to all members at the end of August and the activi-ties of the nominations committee. Here is how the election will work:

(1) Each ballot has five names. Please mark your first choice with a "1,” your second choice with a "2,” and so forth. If it is at all possible, please rank all 5 candidates. If you are not able to do that, please rank as many as you can.

(2) The candidate who receives the highest mean rank will become President, and will take office in January 2014; he/she will serve as Past President for the calendar year 2015.

(3) The candidate with the second highest mean rank will be President-elect, starting January 2014 and become President in January 2015, and Past Presi-dent in January 2016.

(4) The person with the third highest mean rank will become the General Vice President in January 2014, the President-elect in January 2015, and the Presi-dent in January 2016. He/she will serve as Past President in 2017.

(5) The President, President-Elect, General Vice President, Past President, and Treasurer (presently Steve Sobelman, who will continue in that role) will serve on the Executive Committee, which will be the primary governing body of SEPI.
To help with the transition, and because we would ordinarily not have a Past-President next year since we have not yet had a president, the Board of Direc-tors has asked Marvin Goldfried and Paul Wachtel to jointly serve as Past Presi-dents for the 2014 calendar year. After that, their role would be taken over by the person who serves as President in 2014, who will automatically become Past President in 2015.
